Marmots
The camp you select for your child will hopefully be the camp they call a second home for many years to come, which is why we offer Quarter B-4, our four-night introduction program. For children wanting a taste of the Cheley Experience, QB4 gives campers a window into Cheley and allows them to play and build independence. QB4 takes place once a summer and is split up into two age groups: the PIKAS for 8-year-olds and the MARMOTS for 9- & 10-year-olds.
For Children 9 to 10 Years Old
Our Marmots program is designed to introduce 9- to 10-year-olds to the magic of Cheley through an action-packed 5-day experience. It’s the perfect way for younger campers to get a taste of camp life before transitioning to our 27-day program. The program offers a balanced mix of fun and growth, with structured days full of engaging activities.
Unlike the longer summer sessions where campers can select their activities, Marmots are placed in designated groups and rotate through a set schedule. This ensures they experience various camp offerings, from archery and high ropes to outdoor rock climbing and hiking. The Marmots still enjoy many core elements of Cheley traditions, including a Play Day, an All-Camp Campfire, and family-style meals served in the dining hall.
In addition to these activities, Marmots also create their own Code of Living, a set of principles they commit to following during their time at camp. At the beginning of the week, each camper receives a Green Kerchief—a meaningful tradition that helps connect them to the broader Cheley community.
As of 2024, we slightly shortened the program, with campers now being picked up on Saturday afternoon rather than spending an additional night at camp. This adjustment allows us to maintain the same level of excitement while ensuring campers return home for a restful Sunday with their families.

What is a Unit?
Our 5-day program, Quarter B-4, is divided into two units, organized according to age & gender, and offers the same renowned Cheley Experience staffed by 10 to 12 enthusiastic counselors.
Each unit has its own well-maintained lodge, boathouse, and living spaces. We are a large camp, but this setup ensures individualized attention for each camper. Quarter B-4 is located at Land O’Peaks (LOP). During QB4, campers rotate through activities in a designated group and participate in campfire with their unit, although some opportunities do occur with all of Quarter B-4.
